Williamsburg Residence

| New York, NY | 2001-02 |

|Residential Project | Built |

Your serene cabin in the woods- at the heart of New York City. This complete low-budget renovation of a Williamsburg townhouse creates an open flow by connecting the living space and kitchen to a private, sunny terrace and small backyard. Supported by a subtle steel frame integrated into the original building envelope, the project merges historic framing with refurbished fire stairs and industrial kitchen cabinets to create a sense of spaciousness within the typical 1200 sqf space, situated at the 20 × 40 feet lot. Carefully considered spatial geometry brings natural light deep into the interior while preserving privacy for the second-floor bedroom and office. Built-in cabinetry provides generous storage without compromising the openness of the space.
